Whether you’ve been in church your whole life or are just curious, we want to see middle and high school students understand their identity in Jesus and know His incredible love for them. Our mission is to equip and empower them to step into their part of God’s story. Through weekly gatherings, small groups, and service opportunities, we provide experiences for students to know Christ, build relationships with one another, grow in faith, and serve our neighbors.

We want middle and high school students to understand their identity in Jesus and to know His incredible love for them.

 

Our mission is to equip and empower them to step into their part of God’s story. Through weekly gatherings, small groups, and service opportunities, we provide experiences for students to know Christ, build relationships with one another, grow in faith, and serve our neighbors.

Walking in for the first time?

Showing up to something new can feel like a lot. Here’s exactly what your first night with us will look like.

You'll be welcomed

A leader will greet you at the door, learn your name, and make sure you know where everything is. You don’t need to know anyone — most students start that way.

You'll eat & hang out

Wednesday nights start with dinner together. Sunday mornings start with donuts. There’s always space to just be — no pressure, no performance.

You'll dig into faith

Real conversations, real Scripture, real questions. We don’t pretend the Christian life is simple — we just believe Jesus is worth knowing.

Faith is grown together.

The most formative parts of student ministry rarely happen on a stage. They happen in small circles — with people who know your name, your story, and what you’re walking through. Our small groups gather students by grade and gender, led by trusted adults committed to walking alongside them through middle school and high school.

Our job is to come alongside the work you’re already doing at home: equipping, encouraging, and standing in the gap when the teenage years get hard. Sarah Chalk

Sarah is excited to serve Saint Peter’s Church as Director of Administration – she is used to juggling multiple things at once while making people her priority. She has been a Mount Pleasant resident since 1998 but is originally from the Lake District in England. Her husband is Scottish & their 3 children were born in the Lowcountry. Sarah has a BSc in Combined Business Studies from the University of the West of Scotland, an MSc in Counseling and Pastoral Care from the University of Strathclyde & a Postgraduate Certificate in Education. Having taught high school & associate degree level in Scotland, she has turned her hand at many things in the US including Real Estate, having an active license for 7 years. A common thread in her variety of careers is her love of God & how that shows through her natural ability to take care of others.

Sam Cain

Sam Cain, originally from the UK, has spent the past 10 years building youth, young adults and family ministries, within the church and in sports! He completed three years of ministry school and is currently finishing his Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and Psychology. Sam is passionate about helping children, teenagers, young adults develop authentic relationships with Jesus and experiencing deep healing and transformation.Sam loves good coffee, great food, spending time with his family and friends and of course watching his beloved Arsenal Football Club! Sam, his wife Rachel and son Noah are excited to call Charleston home and are grateful to be part of the Saint Peter’s community!

Jeff Adkins

Jeff was born in West Virginia, where he met and married his wife, Amy. They moved to Mount Pleasant in 1994 while expecting their fifth child. Jeff has had a lifelong passion for local and global missions. Soon after they were married, he and Amy helped lead a high school ministry in an urban school. He later served nearly a decade with Prison Fellowship and co-led a student outreach in Hungary for close to another decade. Jeff and Amy remain actively involved in Saint Peter’s mission partnerships in Haiti and Honduras. Today, all five of their children are married with children of their own: two grandchildren live in the Charleston area, four live in Houston, a third is on the way in Hanalei (HI), three live in Germany, and three live in South Korea. The numbers and locations of grandchildren remain dynamic.

Eric Stair

Eric brings over two decades of experience in ministry. Driven by life verse, Psalm 84:10, he finds greatest joy in serving as a “doorkeeper” in the house of the Lord. He and his wife, Beth, celebrate 23 years of marriage and are proud parents to Zoe, Emmy, Livi, and Jack. A lifelong creative, you can often find Eric with a cup of coffee in his hand and a new idea brewing. Carolina born and raised, the Stairs are thrilled to be back in the Lowcountry and call Saint Peter’s home.

Caroline Miller

Caroline was born and raised on Sullivan’s Island. She and her husband, Mike, have 3 grown children: Silas, Jared, and Ella. She joins the staff after working in education for over 25 years, both in public and private schools in the States and abroad. She is excited to be able to use her diverse experiences–including 10 years on the mission field–to bring encouragement and growth opportunities to the Saint Peter’s Kids’ and Families Ministries. Her happy places include traveling and anything to do with the beach or boating.

Katie Swaney

Katie, an Atlanta native, graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Health Promotion in 1999. After running her own fitness training business, Katie transitioned into marketing where she worked for several agencies within the Atlanta area before meeting her husband, Steve. The Swaney family of six includes their three wonderful children (Jack, Ryan and Charlie) and their dog Todd. Katie and her family moved to Mount Pleasant in 2015 to be closer to grandparents and cousins. In more recent years, Katie has been working remotely for a social media firm, which has proved instrumental in keeping her marketing and communication skills up to date.

Katie Williams

Katie was born and raised in Jacksonville, FL and later graduated from Stetson University with a degree in Health Sciences. Since, her career path has involved both teaching at Palmetto Christian Academy and helping people achieve their fitness goals through personal training at MUSC wellness center. Whether helping in kids ministry, singing on the worship team, or leading life groups, Katie’s passion for serving and sharing the love of Christ has always been a deep calling in her life. After living in Texas for the last 4 years, Katie is thrilled to be back in Charleston with her husband, Jason, and their two children, Brie and Camp. Katie is now overwhelmed with joy and excitement to be a part of the Kids Ministry team.

Mike Miller

Mike is originally from Tampa, Florida and has called the Charleston area home base since 1987. After 20 plus years in ministry, including 12 years overseas, Mike and his wife Caroline have recently returned to Mt Pleasant from a 5 year assignment in Athens, Greece. Caroline is originally from Sullivan’s Island and together they have deep roots in the Lowcountry community where their three adult children spent much of their childhood. When not soaking in the joy at Saint Peter’s, Mike can often be found under the hood of an old Mercedes diesel or watching yet one more church history video.

Rennie Addison

Rennie Addison has called Mount Pleasant home for 25 years and yet driving over a bridge still takes her breath away and fills her with gratitude.  Her two fabulous children were born and raised here and pluff mud runs through their veins. She and her husband, Dan, love to spend time on the water whenever possible.  Rennie has a masters in Education and has taught in both North and South Carolina for many years.  She also worked for St. Andrews church for 12 years in a variety of roles including children’s, young adult, and women’s ministry. Her door is always open for good talks, prayer, tears and laughter!

Turner Merritt

Turner was born and raised in the foothills of Northwest Georgia. After graduating from the University of Georgia in 2003, he found home in the Lowcountry where he enjoys exploring God’s creation outdoors whenever possible. Turner’s wife, Margaret, serves as the Executive Director of the LAMB institute, Saint Peter’s mission partner in Honduras. Turner and Margaret love to travel and experience other customs and cultures. They live in Mt. Pleasant with their two children, Miller and Reston. Turner has a passion for real, authentic relationships and is excited to follow God’s call to help grow those relationships at Saint Peter’s Church.

Martin Chalk

Martin is excited to serve Saint Peter’s Church as Worship Pastor and loves to mentor and invest in people. He has been a Mount Pleasant resident since August 1998 but is originally from Paisley, Scotland. Sarah, his wife, is from the North of England and their 3 children were born right here in the Lowcountry. Although he has a BSc in Land Economics from the University of the West of Scotland, he has worked in worship ministry most of his life serving the local church. He was Worship Pastor at Seacoast Church in Mount Pleasant for 20 years. Having toured extensively, songwriting and recording continue to play an integral role in his life and he has been blessed to have songs sung in churches all around the World and recorded by other worship artists.

AJ Sherrill

Serving as Lead Pastor (Rector) in churches across the country, I am thrilled to call the Lowcountry my home.  With 2 Masters in Theology and a Doctorate from Fuller Seminary, I am currently pursuing a certificate in Spiritual Direction in hopes of joining pastors and leaders better attune to God’s voice.

Most importantly, I am a disciple of Jesus, husband to Elaina, and father to Eloise. Least importantly, I am a Michigan Wolverine, thus seldom winning, but often gaining humility.
